Social Media versus Real Life

I wouldn't go up to a random stranger in the street and say "i'd like to make a friend request" or "give me a connection" or whatever.

I wouldn't say "lol" in real life or "poke" people...

What would you do on social media but not in real life?

I have a friend who will say "lol" or "tbh" in a real face to face conversations.

    Feckin' cringey so it is.

I know someone who does this too. It's automatic.

When I start to re-enact gif's or meme's it gets fairly annoying for everyone.

Nothing wrong with a bit of poking now and again mate.

I've never had a Sheila complain to me in the past.

I've started to ignore people online as well as in real life.

I say "fcukin LOL" when I'm talking about something that's actually not that funny but I'm outraged about it and relaying my story.
I smile a lot in person but don't smile in any of my pics on social media. #saynotodimples
I'm as anti social on social media as I am in person. Only add people I talk to and at that if I meet someone out that's my friend on Facebook and they ignore me or act like we don't talk, then boom, I'm straight on my Facebook deleting them.
I'm not on Twitter because 140 characters isn't enough of a rant for me, that would be very like my real life.
I don't use filters cause let's face it, can't improve perfection.
My Facebook wall is just an outlet for my friends to make fun of me on, much like real life except on social media they can link their sarcastic comments with photos.

And the only time I got poked on Facebook was by a guy I was "special friends" with in college, he poked me about a year ago and I was thrilled and poked him back which he then ignored. :(

T'is true. If you were a teenager in Dublin in the 90's it was a common past time.

I probably wouldn't say 'question mark' at the end of a question in real life either, but when you're expressing yourself through the written word....

"As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round." is something no one would say in real life. So why post it on Facebook- and who gets inspired by this crap?

You shouldn't need to if your intonation is correct.

Speaking of social media and real life,

Are we now doing the process of grief and death differently because of it? I mean think of the all the dead facebook users? There are supposedly 30 million users who have past on since its inception. In the past, remembering the dead had a physical element to it. You had to go somewhere to honour them: a graveyard, a church, a memorial. Now the dead are like digital ghosts; everywhere, at all times.

I must try and use Whatsapp more, because Facebook Messenger is the only reason I still use the site. I don't use Instagram or any other form of social media, I'm becoming increasingly sick and tired of the local 'amateur celebrities' that are coming out of the woodwork :(

I'm dead in the real world but thanks to cryogenics and synthetic consciousness whole brain emulation I now stalk social media.

The presence of that quote almost guarantees you're dealing with a grade A loon. While it has some uses, from what I can see social media is a weaponised attention seeking missile, the perfect plug in for the century of the self obsessed.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

In real life I probably wouldn't enter a crowed room full of strangers and shout out my thread title point of view and then go on to post express my opinion ending with an invite to the strangers to post give me their opinions on the random topic I've decided needs attention.

I wouldn't spend days arguing with moronic anti-choice or anti-marriage equality eejits in real life.

The worst thing to come out of social media was the youtube revenue share scheme. Every ****er with a camera now wants to be a 'Youtuber'...
