Stick with Vauxhall or go Audi/BMW?

I currently have a 2008 Vauxhall Vectra SRI Navi 160bhp estate.

Love this car and have really enjoyed driving it over the last few years and economically it suits me down to the ground but in the last year it seems to be falling apart. It broke down last year and ended up having to get dvf thing changed/replaced (excuse my ignorance, these abbreviations go over my head).

Since then it's been driving... ok but in the last week it's been showing signs of sluggishness again. Today it conked on me but probably my own fault for chancing the journey before getting it to the mechanic.

Anyway, I'm finally ready to get rid but what to buy is my problem.

I liked the Vectra so naturally I was looking at the Insignia but I'm also looking at Audi A4/6 and BMW 3/5 series.

If I was going Insignia I'd go for the Sri estate version again as I'm totally spoiled with what I have now... sat nav etc... but I do like the look of the A4 avant but I am noticing a significant difference in price between the two cars. My current car is on yellow plates so I would consider buying in NI or England and vrt'ing.

Like everyone buying 2nd hand, I'm so weary of spending a heap of money to then possibly pour more into the 'new' purchase.

Any opinions would be very welcome (",)

I'd stick with the SRI Insignia. It'll be bigger than an A4 or 3 series estate and it'll be sportier than the standard models of the other two.
