Remission: enhanced v ordinary

If you're sentenced to prison, you automatically get 1/4 knocked off your sentence as remission. So if the court gives you a 12 year sentence, you get out in 9.

Now if you're on enhanced while in jail that gets you a third off at the discretion of the minister for justice.

My question is: is it a third off the original sentence of 12 years (i.e. enhanced means out in 8 years), or a third off the original sentence after automatic remission (i.e. out in 6 years)?

Surely all or any remission would be relative to the original sentence.

Not if you've been a naughty prisoner.
