I'd say it's more straightforward on a Passat and might just involve a new indicator stalk and a bit of coding

My son did it on his 05 Golf. He bought the stalk on ebay, fitted it himself and got a mate to enable it on VAG COM. No issues doing it and it only took a couple of hours.

    Yes, it's brilliant.

B5.5 Passat cruise retrofit involves changing the stalk, adding some wiring and then activating the system.

If your doing a lot of non-m50 motorway driving it comes in handy.

If you spend much time on the motorway it can be a nice thing to have, alright. Makes a long motorway drive a lot more comfortable.

I use mine a good bit in 50 and 60 limit areas. Especially ones I know have regular speed traps on, most other cars disappear into the distance and it feels really slow so it's very easy to speed up if you start going with the flow.

Done my A4 B6 a few weeks ago and it's semi straight forward:).
Not sure about the Passat, but expect it's the same as my Audi, therefore you will need to ensure your steering control module will take the cruise control stalk.

If you have VAG.COM/VCDS you can scan to check module number, if not you will need to remove and check serial number and google it to see is it compatible.

If you do need the module, make sure you buy the lower cowling too or else you will be cutting a hole for the cruise control stalk.

I bought stalk, module and cowling on fleabay for €135 inc delivery.

The A4 is different. The Passat has no steering wheel controller.

I saw VW in the UK offering it as a retro fit. I had VW in swords fit one when it was in for a service.
Its great as I drive in a lot of countries with different speed limits. In France I use it a lot in the 30k village zones where the police will do you for even 3kph over the limit.
