I'd really like to see more of the work by these filmmakers. I'm thinking specifically of Cathal Black, Bob Quinn, Joe Comerford and Pat Murphy.

Am I correct in saying the only way of seeing these films for the most part is at the IFA or catching an IFI retrospective? Or are there DVDs available that I'm not aware of?

Two Cathal Black films, Pigs and Korea are available on Volta. Love and Rage is available on DVD and on Amazon Prime.

Bob Quinn and Joe Comerford are sadly unavailable.

Pat Murphy's Nora is available on DVD and Amazon Prime. Her other films are not avallable.

Thanks Sarxos. I never thought to check Volta.

Shame so much of their work is unavailable.

Since I posted I've learned that the IFI/IFA are working on a streaming service due to launch later this year, so maybe some of their IFB-funded shorts will turn up there. No doubt there's probably rights issues with their features, though.

No worries. Yes it is a damn shame. Cathal gave me a copy of Korea on DVD so I'm one of the lucky few. That IFI Player is very promising.

Yeah. Hopefully it includes the early IFB films and shorts and isn't just documentary footage.

Somebody told me Comerford has been trying to get a box set of his work released on DVD which would be pretty cool if true.

I'll be in talking to them about it the week after next. Hopefully I can find out what their intentions are.

Hadn't heard about Comerford, but that would be great.

I'll keep an eye out for that. It would be interesting to get an idea what their plans are for it.

Bob Quinn's DVDs can be got online. Don't know if I can post links here but Quinn's Cinegael have a website if you search ' Bob Quinn Connamara ' should be top of the list.
