I have being drawing a trailer around for work a couple a days this week while I was disconnecting this evening I noticed that the the cable has snapped completely away leaving two exposed ends of 7 pin cable. Is it possible to just reconnect the damaged cable with connector blocks or would the whole cable need to be replaced?

    Thanks in advance.

Replace the whole cable, using connectors will just lead to trouble when the water gets in.
Might as well wire a whole new cable and plug in place, they come pre-wired but you would be advised to tighten all connections and cover them with vaseline to prevent corrosion.

Always better to replace cable , even replace plug too as these IMO need replacing fairly regularly as they are the cause of dodgy lights a lot of the time.
You can join the cable though, my preferred method is solder the joins and use waterproof heat shrink to cover same
