Hey I know it's not a good "fancy" watch but it means a lot to me. My husband bought it for me as a surprise on our honeymoon. So I really want to get it repaired.
I brought it into a jewelers today to get the battery replaced but I was told the watch was broken. He said it would cost €100+ for him to send it off for repair. He said the last jeweller who replaced the battery put the wrong one in and that the clip was not closed? Would this have caused it to break?
Is there anywhere i could bring it myself that would be cheaper? I'm in Dundalk.
    Thanks

First thing I would do it bring it to another local jeweler to get a second opinion and find out exactly what the problem is.

If it is a broken battery clip then should be doable cheaper than that. You will need to find a jewler shop that does watch repairs themselves. A ship that sends them off to someone else to repair will generally be more expensive as you have two entities adding margin the same repair.

Thank you, I'll bring it somewhere else and see what they say

As it's a quartz, a new movement would cost about $25 (max), if you can find out the movement (open the back up and squint) you can track it down on the web.

I've done this for an old chronograph watch I got on my honeymoon, where the battery leaked and destroyed everything. Hardest part was actually getting a NOS strap for it as it's 20 years old, MK watches are pretty new so shouldn't be too hard.
