Look it up on line. It covers people who are not able to work. It might also be possible to get a placement service to obtain a suitable part time position for you.

People on DPMA can work and earn up to €120 pw without it affecting their main payment.

You need to get accessed and deemed unfit for work to get DPMA and it is means tested.

DA is 188 p/w as well so you wouldn't be better off.
You have to prove you aren't able to work, and it will last at least a year. Your doctor has to fill in the form too.

Theres no such payment in Ireland as DPMA, just straightforward Disability Allowance. If your GP says your not fit for work you need to get him/her to fill in a SW Cert, admit it to your local SW office and then ask the CWO for a SWA payment as you are not entitled to JSA.

That's Illness Benefit -> Disabiltiy Allowance. One of the paths. Person severely breaks leg at work..complications continue...man can no longer work - DA.

Chronic epilepsy, spina bifida, depression ... all JA going to DA.

You can keep the Jobseekers Allowance while applying for and indeed appealing the Disability Allowance decision. It is not an either / or situation.

The DA process can indeed take over a year. People on DA can undertake work under certain conditions.

Please do not direct people to CWOs for BASI payments that are reserved for people in short-term need of a handout.

Well it must be a regional thing because where I live what I have described is standard procedure for people on JSA who find themselves unfit for work

It's standard in ireland either you are on JSA or B
    Illness benefit or Disability.

Jobseekers Benefit is finite (6 months or 9 months) and is based on your contributions. Unless you get a job, it will expire and you will wind up on the means tested Allowance.
Disability Allowance is a completely separate means tested payment that someone may end up on without having claimed a day of JSA, JSB or indeed Illness Benefit. Although that would be an unlikely scenario.
Yes - you will never be on both JSA and DA simultaneouly. You may be on JSA while applying for DA. It is common knowledge that DA will take at least 6 months from application to award and more than likely a year. A year is a long time to live on fresh air.
