I am taking off sensible head punting on my conspiracy theory head for this :D

Have anyone even suggested some solution to an issue that is in the public sphere, it could be any issue? and low and behold the suggestion has been
    used?

In other words someone made a suggestion and that exact same suggestion is now being used by say a public body or some public or privite organisation.

I've heard of some lads disappearing after being banned. Boards bans them from the site and then the government decides to have them "banned" in real life, if you know what I mean.

I will start again, there could be this discussion on boards about youth unemployment and someone outlines a work bridge type intervention and low and behold a year or so later something similar to what was suggested on boards is rolled out by a public body.

Indo and other media rags steel topics from here all the time. They took a thread of mine from the property forum a few years back.

Oh I get it now. Well last night they were discussing on a radio talk show if it's inappropriate or not to have your children see you naked. Asking what age it becomes an issue at etc. That was a thread here only yesterday so there's every chance the idea for the topic was lifted directly from AH.

That is taking discussion ideas from boards that goes on all the time, but does it go further that that?, for example say someone on boards make a suggestion about a possible intervention that could be make in a strike/labour dispute and then that suggestion is actually implemented.

    Is it coincidence?.

I started a thread about petrol prices, couple of months later and petrol prices dropped.
    Coincidence, I think not!!

If you search back far enough you'll find I predicted 9/11 on boards.ie, let's just say this is a post that I don't care to have dredged up too often.
You know, if they really wanted to hit America, instead of blowing the World Trade Centre up from the basement like they tried before they should just hit them from the air with explosive packed planes. How hard could it be to hijack a passenger jet and just ram them? I've been doing it on flight simulators for years.
Oh and don't go saying this post will give them "ideas" - sure how would terrorists even know about boards.ie in the first place?

What is a coincidence? How about some examples of what you mean?

Generally, it's the other way round. Something gets a mention in the media and people open thread as thought they have just had a thought on a particular subject.

I remember years ago thinking someone should invent a plastic splatter guard for when you're using an electric blender or whisk in a bowl.

I improvised by wrapping the bowl in cling film and inserting the stick blender and thought I was all sorts of clever.

A few months later I saw plastic splatter guards for the very same problem and with the hole in the middle for the blender.
    :(

boards just rips everything off of reddit anyway.

I'd say people follow it alright, there's a few things that have been argued to and fro on boards and lo and behold it becomes a Thing in the media. Religion in schools is one off the top of my head.

Let's call the whole thing off.

All the one on a sunny day. Get out the parasol, deck chairs and barbie, wrap the kids in an asbestos suit and get them tonfipl the boot of the car with that fine golden sand (gravel) and you could easily imagine yourself on the copacabana
