Dress shape to conceal large tummy?

I like skirts and dresses but am self-conscious about a little - well, not-so-little - handful of too-much-ness on my stomach.

Sticking out between the navel and the knicker-elastic like a sofa cushion.

And all the dresses I look at these days seem to be shaped for a person with a flat front. Which mine ain't.

What shape and style of dresses do the wise and knowledgeable of the forum suggest for this shape of person? (In fitness shorthand, I'm an Apple)

But in general I think tummy can be hidden with some clever tailored blazer over the dress. Also go for the clothes with a bit of tailoring. For example I find Zara impossible if you have curves.

Thank you all for the helpful suggestions.

Anything I've tried like A-line or shift-dress isn't really flattering: tum sticks out through them, LOL. The others are all great, though.

But I didn't know the fit-and-flare line was still around...lovely dresses on that page, thank you Dolbert!

I've had the same issue in the past and I found the best dresses were ones with a definite structure and a bit of off-centre detail at tummy level. Ruching, folds, belts, diagonal stripes, strategically placed patterns, all sorts really.

Here's a few I like from oasis but I've always found Dunnes great for flattering dresses too, worth picking up an armful and trying them all on!

I have the same problem. I wear dresses that cinch in at the waist or have a panel (over chest or over stomach) to help hide. Also hi-low dresses. pencil skirts or maxi skirts. Flowy ones tend to make me look bigger.
