Can anyone recommend a good reliable company that can setup an Umbrella company for me so I can go down the contracting route.

I am coming from a Perm role and I dont want the hassle setting up Ltd companies etc as I only intend to do this for 12 to 18 months.

    Hi there.
I'm in the same situation right now as you were when you posted.
    Did you go with Icon?
How have you found the experience with all this, can you give me any advice?

I've moved into full time and away from contracting. I used Icon Accounting for a couple of years and can wholeheartedly recommend them.

Thanks so much for the reply. I've since scanned their FAQ's and they seem to have everything I need. They might be the answer.
    Good luck with en devours.

I've been notified this morning that I've to go with one of the 'Preferred listed Suppliers', i.e. One of the companies the organisation pays to at present. Your Contracting Plus happens to be one of those.

Did you feel they were a good fit/service?
Any advice for someone who has never been under the Umbrella service before?

I was a contractor in an umbrella service some years ago and I was given a preferred list of suppliers - this doesn't mean you have to go with them.

At the end of the day you are paying for this service not the organisation you are getting the role through - would definitely consider going back to question this..

Thanks KSMO, and I was thinking that anyway.

I have however gone with C.Plus but mainly because they do seem to have a good set up and because of your recommendation. I cant thank you enough.

It was quite convoluted as I invoiced my client and they paid me through cpl on payroll to contracting plus. Were I doing it long term I would have set up a limited company etc but it was important to me to keep my prsi and tax up to date as it was a very specific piece of work that then meant I couldn't work in that industry for the specific amount of time.

I'm in the exact same boat. CP invoicing Parity Recruitment. I only plan to be here 10 months so as you said, when you leave you tax should be in order.
    Thanks again.

Just remember to up your day rates to take account of employer prsi and vat. I didn't do this for first month! Client doesn't mind as can claim back vat usually.

I loved contracting but hated invoicing (not ideal), so it worked out for me. Back in paye world now.
