Remove Mould from Car Baby Seat

My daughter's baby seat was left in a car which was largely idle over the winter and now has blue-ish mould on it. Tried vinegar - scrubbed it - I don't know if it has killed the mould or not, but the stains are only slightly reduced.

I have now removed the covers from the seat frame and they now can go in the washing machine: what washing powder / additive would you recommend to remove the mould stains? Also, the temperature of the wash

    Recommendations appreciated, thanks.

You really need to contact the manufacturer of your car seat for cleaning instructions. You can remove the fire retardant and/or weaken the straps by improper cleaning.

Mould stains on soft fabrics are very difficult if not impossible to remove.
I'd wash it with something like an oxygenated cleaner to try and get them out with spot treatment first.
I wouldn't be to worried about fire retardant being washed out of a child seat, and unless you are soaking it in bleach it won't weaken nylon or polyester significantly.
Try an oxy based cleaner first and see how you get on.

My brother told me that cleaning the straps with a power hose removes the stains, but I haven't tried it.

Use Dettol Mould and Mildrew remover, spray on the effected area and leave 5-10 mins then wash off with a power hose as suggested above. Worked for me, and the mould was pretty bad.

What you're suggesting can be dangerous for your child. Call the car seat manufacturer and ask what they suggest!
