Hi, looking for people out there who are using gas in there homebrewing, what gas are you using, do you get much out of cylinder, what size burner are you using also. I'm using electric and sussing out difference between and is it worth watching over. Thanks.

I've a 4kw ring on my hob, I use it for partial boils of 20l, I just throw a bit more hops at the wort to allow for lower bittering.
It's grand, you can turn the gas down too when the hot break foam arrives, to insulate the top of the pot.

I use a gas hob, but I only do half-size batches. I've considered moving outside with a gas ring (due to steam, complaints about smell etc) - this might be an option, I've a feeling it would turn out to be expensive though. Bottled gas is pricey, & it's hard to know how much gas is left in a cylinder so you'd run the risk of running out midway through a boil. Also it would be impossible on windy days.

AFAIK Gas is cheaper per KW than electricity, but electricity is more efficient.
