Looking at getting a 2.0 litre in either of these estates, probably a 2011/ 2012.
I had been keen on the Passat, I like the interior and exterior and have tested the 1.6 version and found it very comfortable and tidy inside. I'm not sure if modern passats are as reliable as they used to be and repair costs seem quite high, have been reading some owner reviews and they are a bit off putting. With the Mondeo, I like the exterior but the interior is less comfortable and easy on the eye. Having owned a focus for the last 8 years, Ive found it very reliable with no major repair jobs. I guess modern diesels are fraught with potential major repair bills if something goes wrong. Just looking for any opinions or experiences with these cars in recent years, or even the Hyundai I 40 tourer or Toyotan Avensis Estate.

The 2.0 litre in both the Passat and Mondeo is much better than the 1.6 litre.
