I'm in the market for a new laptop, may go second hand due to budget restraints, final year software dev student so need something that will run all latest IDEs (netbeans, android studio) with ease , current machine takes forever and a day to build projects. Other than that i wont be gaming or doing graphic intensive tasks, just general college work and multimedia playback.

    specs:

    Model: E6410
    14.1” laptop
    Core i5 2.4GHz – 2.66GHz
    8GB RAM
160GB HDD with optional upgrade to 1TB HDD
    Windows 8.1

This first came out in 2010 so im wondering even though specs look good on paper will this be up to scratch for what i need it for

I hate groupon. There's always a catch with these tech deals.

That being said, it is a relatively good spec on paper (asides from the HDD) and it is pretty cheap. I'd wonder if it would be worth buying the cheapest 8GB model and buying an SSD to throw in. It would be a fast machine then!

All in all, I'm wary about it due to it being a groupon deal. But it could be reasonable, when you consider what you can buy new for that price.

You'd prob get a s/h one on ebay minus the HDD or RAM for $50 or less. Its only a 1st gen i5, but will also take an i7. I have one, also some E6400s, the main advantage is the 6410 is DDR3, so it would be cheaper to get 8GB for it. Its not noticeably faster IMHO than the 6400.

    But maybe you want complete....
You don't link the item or its price

They're a very well built machine, and easy to service.

For 330, no way. You can get 4th Generation i3 based laptops brand new for that.

You can also pick up machines of that spec for about 150 on adverts.ie or Ebay.

Also, they aren't light. A newer machine would prob be lighter with maybe better battery life. Not bad at the right price for desk use though, but 320 is pricy for that spec.

    Lenovo B50, i3-5005U, 4GB, 120Gb SSD - €350

Fantastic deal and extremely fast laptop for the money between the 5th gen i3 and SSD, if you want to keep the budget low.
