See this new Toyota C-HR on the Toyota Website this morning. Irish Release November 2016. No price or exact specs yet but you can register interest on the website.

Looks good i think. Not sure about the whole Hybrid thing though to be honest.

I foresee a lot of vomiting kids with the back window being that small

I have to admit, i like it and o have cross over yolks.

As mentioned above, I don't really understand design though with back windows. It is a family car and kids will be in the back. You need windows keep little rats happy. :)
On the other hand it's our generation. Who looked through the windows. These days kids look at screens...

It's the FJ cruiser, not the BJ cruiser!

I think it is not, as it looks rather smallish and would be driven usually by one person all the time.

    edit:

I stand corrected - 2640mm wheelbase... It is not giant, but would not call it a small car either... What size of wheels did they put on and what is the cost of tyres for those?

No need to worry about kids, they won't be able to reach that ludicrous rear door handle. Toyota designers are either in rehab (Avensis) or on acid (this/Prius).

    Designed to look sturdy/rugged.
Will only ever be used for school runs...

I humbly submit that all these "Crossover" things are completely stupid, with too much weight/bulk and silly all-wheel drive systems that are utterly flummoxed by mounting the kerb outside Wagamama, and being less roomy than an Opel Astra.

Christ that is truly a horrendous interior, toke a new 161 Corolla for a test drive recently and nearly few asleep it was so boring inside.

I believe the Toyata Rav4 is credited with kicking off what we know as crossovers.

I can't see how massively different the epitome of Irish class (base model A4) is inside, but hey.

My understanding is that a lot of drivers feel safer viewing the road and other traffic from a higher position. In addition some people think anything remotely like a "jeep" adds class and shows they're too cool for some boring old saloon.

In short crossovers appeal to the instincts of over-anxious drivers and deluded status seekers.

I presume this is a Nissan Juke rival then.

It is a slightly bigger car than the the Honda HRV. So, not exactly a toy (unlike the Juke).

i had one in purple remember.

that wasn't really a crossover although it had a 4wd option that nobody went for.
    great car. wrong price.

It's trying to fill a market driven sector, for quirky crossovers, exactly like the Juke. Toyota already have the Rav4, which was always a pretty credible as a genre starter. The market for proper 4x4s is declining, and I can see the majority of new models being crossovers in the next while. Even the likes of Bentley are in on the act.

Not near as ugly as the Juke from the front, but many other cars can do more than this one.

i didn't add much street cred to it either :)

if it had been priced under 20k it would have been a hit. they cost too much because they came from Japan. toyota ireland as usual made it bog basic with acceptable spec or diesel pushing the price to avensis levels. same with the iq. Amazing when you consider they homolgated it for Europe when the market was crying out for a people carrier to replace the avensis verso. they had a few Japanese models that could have focussed their attenton on instead of giving us that niche stuff that nobody wanted.
