While I dont agree with the changes made to the 2FM schedule and music output, is having an interview with 60's Scottish singer Donovan Leitch and playing full tracks that are 50 years old by him last Sunday on the Dave Fanning show contradicting the recent changes of being a youth station even though the weekend schedule is aimed at a slightly older audience with older presenters??
Even Larry can't play songs from the 80s on the Golden Hour!

No comments please about Dave Fanning still on the 2FM schedule !!

I see 2FM as two different stations now.

    Monday to Friday is youth.

    Saturday and Sunday are old.

It's the incongruity that is the issue for me; be one thing or the other.

RTE need a third station for the older DJs - one dedicated to older decent music.

I don't know! I've listened to Larry the odd time over the past while on Saturday. I'm in my 40's and really think Larry is a class act but the music he's forced to play now is utter cack. The Golden Hour was always great because it was a smorgasbord of everything from the 60's right up to a few years ago. Either it's a Golden Hour or it's not. I'm pissed because, let's be honest, there's a limited time to hear Larry do his thing into the future before he retires. I wish they'd stop hamstringing the man and let him do what he's good at.

As for Donovan, that sounds like a massive improvement in 2FM's musical output if they played some of his tracks. More of the same would be appreciated!

If they could move Larry into Ronan Collin's spot on Radio 1 for him to do his Golden Hour..... two problems solved

Last time I heard him, while driving at Christmas time, he played Katy Perry which was enough to make me switch off.

Why move Ronan, unless he is retiring?

I don't know who the producer of the Larry Gogan show is, or who his controlling the Golden Hour playlist but it sounds like a 15 year old is choosing the tracks!

Even Aidan Leonard is no longer filling in for Larry (think he's at RTE Gold full time), it is now one of the camp sounding young guys who all sound the same to me! Aidan kept playing 80s stuff most of the time after the new music policy.

Poor Larry, he deserves better and so do the older listeners who only tune in to hear Larry and who were used to The Biggest Jukebox on at that time. I know Larry has oldies shows on RTE Gold, though no harm keeping the Golden Hour alive!
