What times do people generally think is the quietest times to visit the cinema

I went last Sunday evening around 6:30pm and it was fairly quiet

Would be interested in knowing what times others think

Early Wednesday afternoons. I go for the €5 Odeon tickets and it's usually pretty quiet. Depends on what you're seeing though. OAP's were out in force for most of the Oscar films these past few months.

When I was on maternity leave I used to go first thing in the morning. Once I saw a movie at 08:45 in Liffey Valley. There was me, my baby (who was a great sleeper, thats why I'd go with her. It was always her nap time when I'd go and she always slept right through) and one other person.

No noise, no munching on the "necessary" food to watch a movie, no phones, no chatting, etc etc. It was lovely.

Unless you're unemployed, retired or a student that's not practical though. What about workers?

I find the Lighthouse and IFI always quiet, multiplexes are generally full of noisy people.

Or work shifts or have a day off....

Anyway the question was when are the quietest times to go. No specifics regarding days or times were given.

If it's at all comfortable, I just sit front row and pretend I'm the only person there.

I usually go after 8pm on Mondays or Tuesdays after a film has been out a week or two and it's always very quiet.

I miss being unemployed (not the dire finanical scenario). Love going to the cinema at 10am and then getting on with the rest of the day. Now I just go as late as possible.

I'm hoping the cinema closer to me will start doing the unlimited scheme. Where i live its not practical for me to go anywhere in town to go the movies in the evening, like the lighthouse or cineworld, and like most people I'm usually busy during the day.

It's not an issue at all in some cinemas. Most multiplexes are horrible for this though.

The Odeon at the Point, anytime really :pac: if you want the screen to yourself 12.30 on a Sunday
