just want to run this by anyone here - is there any point in getting a battery pack designed specifically for a rc car or will the 4xAA jobbie be as good as anything?

Just the investment of the crimper though I suppose as an addition :(

whoops, I was referring to a 4.8v or 6v receiver and servo power pack for nitro car.

it seems the aa options are way way cheaper and I've a load of really good gp rechargeables around the place....

I suppose in event of crashes a soldered 4-er pack is more durable than the plastic 4xAA cell Rx cartridge.
