Missing sire after genomic test

    Anyone else have this happen?

I had a cow that I bought in 2012 as a heifer but after the genomic test her sire failed. She was 5* with an index of 131 but now she has no stars or index.

What the hell can you do about that. She was born on a dairy farm, reared by another fella and I bought her at the mart. The original farmer recorded a sire which he'll hardly change 5 years after selling her.

I'd say genomic test picked up that she isn't out of say 5 star replacement index Ai bull that was originally anticipated

I know. But the problem is as far as I was concerned I bought a heifer with her sire recorded. Now the sire test has failed so she is down as missing sire. It isn't even suggesting another sire.

Sounds like your only hope is to ring the original owner and hope he comes up with the right bull.

If the original owner can't get her correct sire, nothing you can really do about it. But if she has bred well for you and you were happy with her before she needed any stars, not much going to change in the grand scheme of things.

More than likely a bull will appear for her yet though. Not many dairy farms with rigs running around to get at the dam.

I'm in a similar situation with 7 heifers I bought 2 years ago from dairy men through a dealer ! T tracked down the original owners from the blue cards ! Two of them were very helpful and I got tag numbers of the sire! The third was very suspicious even after I explained I was in the bdgp scheme and the tag number of the sire would be very helpful ! He was to ring me back ! Never did! I rang asking again in hope that he had forgotten but again very suspicious of why I needed the tag number ! Explained again staying polite and still waiting a week later ! Is there any other way I can find out the sire as i won't be contacting this paranoid p###k again ?
