borrowing and lending money

are you in the habit? I used to borrow regularly but got fed up with having to owe it back in debt, and when I forgot (rarely) the odd argument.

when I do lend it out I hate asking for it back and chasing them down for a fiver, and usually don't except if its a larger sum that id really need back. or i'd just ask to ''borrow'' the same amount back, then they'd remember ''sure I owe you that anyway'' and no harm done.

I hate to see money come between people. how easily it can happen.

I haven't borrowed in ages and likely wont as its a resolution of mine. I will still gladly lend out to those I can trust.

neither a lender nor a borrower be. true? where do you stand on it?

Good advice but I just can't follow it.

I'm *exactly* like yourself OP. I feel really petty asking someone for my fiver or tenner back. Particularly if it's one of my mates who is always there for me when I need something.

Nope, learned my lesson. Don't need to borrow so never lend

But it usually happens when people like yourself forget occasionally to pay it back!

I cant remember the last time I asked anyone for money. I do occasionally help out family members only.

It's always been said to me "never lend a person money that you can't afford to not get back".

Have'nt borrowed money in yonks myself. Lent a small amount one in a while to one dude. He paid me back ok. Then dude two. Lent quite a good bit - never saw it back. Then dude three. Actually - wrote about this elsewhere on boards under my old boards name gugleguy.
Borrowed a couple of hundred euro off me and some off my superior. My superior told him never EVER to do this again. The goon "agreed" to this. Forward a year and a half later - same goon asks to borrow a couple of hundred euro again. - I agreed - he did'nt get anything - I reported it to company management. I followed the process here through to the end. Removed him from contact on linked in and google+.
I 've only recently joined facebook, in the last week or two, thats off the point.
I'm not in debt myself right now.

Last time I remember loaning someone money was in college so a friend could take a girl out to dinner.

Nobody has ever asked me for any serious loan because that'd be like asking your pet dog for a loan. Neither of us have it to give plus we shed a lot and are prone to humping your leg.

    Woof.

I've been burned by people close to me, just small amounts, a 20 or 50 here or there. it's a very dishournable thing to do. I lose a lot respect for the person and never trust them again.

I don't want to ever borrow money off anyone. If I'm skint then I'm skint, I'd rather wait until payday and have it all for myself than have to pay someone back. I'd be willing to lend money to a mate if I knew they'd be good for it. If they've done me a few favours (for example, I've a good mate who often puts me up in Dublin but refuses to take any money off me for it) I'll use it as an opportunity to show them some love by only asking for some of it back.

Different rules apply when it comes to booking tickets for gigs/holidays or anything like that. Always a bit more relaxed in that situation.

Never lend or borrow money to friends if you want to keep them.

Always wanted to do this to someone, actually.

I have never had to borrow money but I lend it fairly freely. I'm of the state of mind that when I lend money I don't really expect it to be paid back. It could be a fiver to some and has been much more to others. I 'lend' money when I want to help somebody out.
