New channel numbers for RPGTV next week
    By Jonathan Kay 10:25AM 16 MAR 2016

RACING Post Greyhound TV changes channel numbers from next Tuesday (March 22) when it will be available on Channel 468 on Sky's Electronic Programme Guide and 250 on Freesat.

The six-nightly programme (daily from 7.15pm except Mondays, with Sunday broadcasts starting an hour earlier at 6.15pm) will still be streamed free via racingpost.com/greyhounds/tv.sd plus partner websites.

"RPGTV viewers will not notice any change in the programme," explained producer Clive Lawrence. "We will still broadcast six nights per week at the same broadcast times.

"The change is due to the host channel, Information TV, deciding to rebrand their channel as Front Runner and moving into the sports section of the EPG.

"Front Runner will carry other sports related content including some edited RPGTV footage taken from our popular kennel visit features."
It is thought that one possible by-product of the move will be to help broaden the audience for the channel which launched in late 2011 initially on Sky channel 231.

"Moving into the sports section of the EPG's has always been an ambition for RPGTV as our programme is more suited to the viewers that will be channel surfing in those sections," said Lawrence, "so it's hoped that the move will increase the viewership of the programme.

"Front Runner will not be available on Virgin cable although the channel owner, Information TV, have not ruled out its inclusion on Virgin in the future."

RPGTV executive producer Kevan Moretti commented: "We have finally come home to the sports section which is great news for the current audience and in terms of broadening the appeal of RPGTV to the more general sporting public.

"With the continuing success of the channel, I would hope we can put the last building block in place, namely a seven days schedule, within the next year."
