    hi,
    I have this program http://www.phoenix-sim.com/
I also have a case, psu, and a good pci-16x graphics card....

    and a hd monitor....

can anyone tell me what components i should get to finish off a computer to run it? The above sim is all I need the computer for - thanks.

Min specs are pretty low for that software so any cpu from the last 8-10 years should be fine.
To successfully use Phoenix, you will need the following:
    • IBM-compatible PC computer with 1.0 Ghz Pentium 3/4 or AMD Athlon/64 compatible processor
    • Microsoft Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 operating system
    • 256MB system memory (RAM)
    • 1.5 GB free, uncompressed hard-disk space*
    • ATI Radeon 9800/NVidia Geforce Ti4200 with at least 128MB memory

Lot's of low end second hand stuff on adverts.ie like this cpu/MB/Ram bundle for €25 -
    http://www.adverts.ie/motherboards/athlon-64-x2-5000-asrock-alive-nf6p-vsta-2gb-ram/10001259
or this €35 - http://www.adverts.ie/motherboards/g31m-e5300-3gb-ram/9708435 (cpu fan needed)

    Budget?

considering that it's just a system capable of running the problem fluidly and at hd definition i have a budget that matches what's needed, but no more :)

considering that it's not a huge amount of money - i'm open to adjusting how deep my hand goes into my pocket.

If that's your only use you can get a basic H81M board for 50, a Celeron processor for 40, 4Gb ram for 40, 120GB SSD for 50, add your own card/case/psu and you'll be sorted.

If you want to save money, the specs are so low that a 2nd hand high end Core 2 Duo/1st gen i3 or i5 based machine would cost about €80-100, add your card and you're sorted.
