just wondering what type of fertiliser i should go with for grazing this year? the ground i plan to graze doesnt get slurry at all, should i go for a fertiliser with phosphorous and potassium as well as nitrogen, usually just put out nitrogen straight on grazing ground

Soil sample would be my first port of call. In the absence of this I would say 27-2.5-5. Ground needs p & k as well as nitrogen.

Is there brand name for this or any special name given it. did a soil sample on two fields , oe was reseeded , shown up as low in lime, put on a ton /cre of lime in october and grass burst out of the ground from nov-jan

27-2.5-5 is Pasture Sward.....will be sold under a number of different brands. What did your soil test show up in terms of P and K requirements?

Pasture sward is different. It is compounded whereas ordinary 27-2.5-5 is a prill as far as I know. Pasture sward is a few pound dearer a tonne due to this.

Pasture sward is just a name given to 27-2.5-5 by IFI they also have cut sward and topper I think as well. Other companies sell their fertiliser just as 27-2.5-5 or 10-10-20 or 18-6-12 or if you're near a company where they sell fertiliser in loose bulk you can get any mixture made up as you want.

    Fertiliser brands around here are
    IFI
    Target
    Gouldings
    Nitrofert

Edit just reread your post is pasture sward all in the one granule? I'm not sure.

Would there be value in going with fertiliser now on very bare ground?
Or would you be better off waiting for the grass to come on a bit, plus the weather should be better by then as well?

As for what fertiliser to go with, I couldn’t say...

With no soil test you would be better using the 25-2.5-5 straight away.P is for early growth & K works later on. it still a bit early to use any more P as its easily lost in wet weather.
