Virgin and Aer Lingus Passport Number Query

    Hi all,
Flying to NYC soon with Aer Lingus to Heathrow and then out from Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic. I gave the travel agent, eTravel, the wrong passport number for my better half and they want money to change it.

I can enter correct the passport number through "My Booking" on Virgin with no hassle at all but I don't know how that affects the first connecting flight with Aer Lingus. Do I need to change it on Aer Lingus too (can't do online though, their website says you have to contact the travel agent).

Or can this be sorted at check-in I wonder???

Any help would be great :)

You must have had the booking reference in order to change or add details to the Virgin booking. How come you managed to obtain the Virgin booking reference but not the one for the Aer Lingus flight?

The Aer Lingus flight is to the UK, they don't need any passport details. The US authorities don't care how you got to Heathrow, for all they know you could live in London and got the tube there. As long as Virgin has your details, that's all that matters because they are flying you to the US so they will supply the advance passenger info (API) to US Homeland Security.

I do have the Aer Lingus booking reference and log into Aer Lingus to change some things but cannot change the passport number in there, it simply advises you to contact the travel agent.

However, the rest of what you said makes a lot of sense so I suppose it should be ok. The last thing I want is for the two of us to turn up to Shannon and be refused!

By all means mention it when checking in at Shannon but if the flights are linked then the API data is already there against the Virgin leg which is what matters and if the flights are not linked, nobody cares about the passport details on the SNN-LHR leg.

I'll mention it at check-in to be sure. Thanks for the reassurance!

US CBP form specifically asks you to state the 'countries visited on this trip prior to US arrival', to which the OP will answer the UK.
