I was wrongly clamped yesterday in a disabled spot with a badge and a registered adapted tax exempt vechile.clamp was eventually removed without charge but the guy was so abusive and rude my kids are still so upset over it. Who would i complain to about this guy ? He is the owner so no point complaining to the company. He called me a liar too when i pointed out that disabled vechiles along with guards ambulances are not allowed to be clamped. It really ruined my mother's day.

If you have his details and he was acting on behalf of the local council I would start with them.

I would suggest speaking to a solicitor if he was so wrong.

I have no proof now he took the clamp off eventually without charge. I was called a redneck and told he doesn't give a f*** if my child is disabled that another permit holder wanted to park in my spot so reported my car. We were in the cinema so 2 hours max gone. There was a crowd around listening to him accusing us of using the spot fraudulently.

Sounds like a private clamping operation. You could make a complaint to your local Garda station, sounds to me like he was in breach of the road traffic act.

Other than that not much you can do. These laws are there to protect people just like you from people just like him.

The owner of the land where the car was located is the one you should complain to. They're the ones who hired the clamper.

Did you have both the badge displayed, and the disabled child with you, at the time?

Not sure who you should complain to, try the building/car-park owners, that's absolutely disgraceful if true about him saying them nasty things to you, who the fúck does he think he is, if that was me I would have knocked his block off or called the Garda on the spot for him.

if he accused you of being a liar in front of others, I'd be paying a friendly visit to your solicitor.

It's crazy that clampers don't need any visible identification like private security officers, they are basically able to imprision your car and demand ransom with no vetting or background checks at all.

I'd second (or third etc.) the suggestion of a solicitor. Either put it behind you or investigate a defmaation claim. There's no middle ground really other than perhaps taking to any social media the owner may have or winding him up a bit.

    Agree with above.

Also, if I remember the IWA guidelines from 2010, on when to use a disability parking place - if the permit holder is the driver they should get priority over a car where the passenger who is disabled. When the passenger is disabled, the driver should park in a disabled spot and then move to one of the general parking spaces when the disable passenger has left the car. This scenario does not suit all situations.

These are just guidelines - not absolute rules and use the word 'should' not 'must'. Its not up to any clamper to interpret this guideline. If your permit is valid and was displayed, the clamper shouldnt tried to clamp your car.

Contact the site owners to complain about your experience.

That's an absolute disgrace, if it was in the ground of a shopping centre or something I would complain to the shopping centre manager - abusing someone like that as obviously he was not getting his money to get the clamp off....
