    Hi
I recently bought a 1988 jaguar xj40. It didn't come with a tax book but now i have finally gotten to change the owner with another form type tax book..
But anyway.. the cars has English plates obvisouly and Im just wonder what are the steps involved in getting the registered down here in the south of ireland with the normal plates ?

(I am going to be restoring the car over the next year so I will have to declare it off the road for a while.. ) is there any benefit of waiting until the car is 30 years old and qualifies as vintage other than the road tax ?

yes there is, VRT will be less, but you'll need to be creative about the date it entered the State. See the stickie for info

according to the online calculator.. seemed very expensive to me too ? The car is probably worth 2K at the moment.. full restored and prestige maybe 7K but...
