Repeating 2nd year arts.

So I'm in second year arts doing a joint degree in Spanish (ex beginners) and English.

This year due to personal reasons, I haven't been able to attend much of my Spanish classes at all and so obviously my level has dropped. The department, as far as I know, can stop you from sitting the exams if your attendance is low, and I'm pretty sure they will probably do that to me. Even if they don't, I will realistically fail. You can't exactly cram a language.

I want to start fresh and repeat second year in September, but do French (obviously I did French in first year) instead of Spanish. My level of French is pretty good, so much so that actually I'd say I could easily pass French if I could sit it this year but obviously that's impossible at this stage!

In order to do this, what happens when it comes to my exams? Do I still have to sit and pass my Spanish exams even if I won't be keeping it on? The chances of me passing are very unlikely...

Also, I'm doing very well in English, would I have to repeat that again or would I only study French for the year?

Hope I explained this coherently... Would appreciate info from anybody :) I have already emailed the su education officer so hopefully I'll hear back from him soon!
