I don't want to put this in the whole Monaghan beats the circus thread, but what are peoples opinions on using Facebook to get back at organisations, businesses etc?

While I completely understand the usefulness of social media to create awareness, is there a danger that people can say what they like on platforms like Facebook and that it can become a case of guilty before being proven innocent? At the very least Boards.ie is moderated very well and can't really be abused in the same way.

my problem with these facebook campaigns is that people genuinely believe that they are "activists" by liking and commenting which is pathetic.
But people genuinely believe they are helping a cause.

It dumbs down the whole process.

No longer on facebook. So I happily avoid the keyboard warrior Crusades for the most part.
Wasn't that whole Konie thing launched on fb couple years back??

Facebook if full of crap to be honest. There are so may campaigns and the like that nobody cares anymore. It was supposed to be a networking site with your friends and family and now it bombarded with nonsense.

On a related note. Twitter is a horrible place. The abuse and general passive agressive a$$holery people subject politicians, sports people etc. to.

How anyone thinks it's ok to abuse people because it is online I just don't know.

    So far, so negative.

I would be in the negative camp regarding facebook and its downside of being used as a court room type setting. I innocently thought it was a networking site for friends and family. Yet it has become an outlet for hate, scorn and more like an old fashioned newspaper without the facts. Everyone on it seems to think they are a reporter! It's lawless!

Gone are the days when you'd spend most of the time sending 'Fr Ted Gifts' to friends :D
