Looking for advice for a new PC

It looks like my HDD is dying after about 6 years so I may as well upgrade the whole lot. At the moment I am flying along running Netrunner installed on a USB stick, until I try to access a parition on the HDD when it starts crawling along again

So I am looking around for a decent PC which has some decent gaming specs. Im not much of a gamer but would like to be able to at least have the options to play some reasonably high spec games that I currently cant , or that might become available.

I was looking at the dell website and even their XPS 8900 costing E1329 only has the mid-range GTX 750ti. I also had a look around the links on Linux preloaded but didnt find anything suitable.

Eventually I found this spec on mesh computers http://www.meshcomputers.com/Default.aspx?PAGE=PRODUCTCONFIGPAGE&USG=PRODUCT&ENT=PRODUCT&KEY=1033871 which comes to £718 if I add a blu-ray writer.

Judging by reviews on Phoronix, the GPU and CPU seem good enough for me.

I havent a clue why they dont allow the option of changing the processor to an intel icore. Maybe its a compatibility issue.

I wll have to check with them to ensure UEFI can be disabled for installing linux

What do you experts think of the above kit from Mesh? Am I missing anything?

It is 'Secure Boot' that you might need to disable not UEFI.

Have you considered a 'self build'?

Thanks Johnny, it was really just the linux compatibility I was asking about in case something didnt play nice from that list.
I dont have time now to start researching PC building from scratch. Definitely something to look into though.

I might build one as an Xmas, or birthday present for someone.

I saw a boards.ie ad on the other thread for pc specialists. They also have interesting options
