Anyone racing this tomorrow, usually a big turnout, weather forecast seems reasonable cool but dry and light winds.

I've to go off at lunchtime but hope to be around the circuit for the first few laps and maybe grab a few snaps.

I plan on making it my first race this year. What's the route like?

If the wind isn't blowing too hard from the south or southwest it's not too bad, Boston Hill can be nasty if you're suffering, Dunmurry is a long drag.

Looked like some hard racing from where I was standing today, all four groups lined out around the bend into Boston Hill first time round. Good sized fields without being huge.

I could only hang around till the end of the A4, got a few shots of the sprint and some from the first two laps on Boston, met the A3 bunch on Dunmurry heading for the finish and got a few shots of them too.

All the photos are unsorted in a google album, feel free to share to anyone you know.

I heard a few reports locally of a crash, it would have had to have been in the A1 or A2 bunch, hopefully it wasn't too serious and everyone is Ok

First time doing this race and great road surface etc. I stayed at the business end of things in the a3 race all day (the safest spot IMHO) until I was brought down by a crash at the very front of the bunch. A raparee lad was hurt and a young fella from carrick on Suir so hopefully they're OK. The ambulance was there when I left with my broken frame, bars and Garmin-both lads were conscious. On that note-is that carbon tec guy good at frame repairs?

I got mine repaired by this guy after a crash at the Stamullen GP a couple of years back, been going strong ever since, can't recommend him highly enough.

Fwiw I had a repair done by carbon Tec before Christmas and he did an excellent job and was really good to deal with. Was pretty small job though just some deep scratches from dropping a chain. Sounds like yours might be a slightly bigger job..

all the talk about A4 crashes - that's two weeks in a row there's been a few bangs in A3, both at the pointy end of things

Yeah, nasty smash in A3, I was lucky I'd just rolled towards the back of the group for a bit of a breather in the minute leading up to it. Hope the fallers are ok.

Bit of a crazy run to the line with the A3 group catching the A2s. I'll be honest and admit that once we caught the two/three lads on the hill I thought we were all back together, didn't realise there were another few still up the road. It was not easy to get a read on the race situation with the A2 bunch in sight. Passing the 2's out with 500m to go was a little bit crazy and by the time we hit the line the bunch was strung out all over the place. I thought I'd placed but with the 5 up the road I was in fact 13th or 14th.

Tried to get in every move going in the first three laps, a couple looked promising but nothing got much leeway. Fair dues to the lads who made the late move stick, wasn't easy to get away.
