Noticed this morning when I was driving the boot randomly unlocking !
Happened 3/4 times . What should I be trying to fix it ? Wd40 ?
The battery was changed last month. Previous to this the boot release button had only worked intermittently and had to use fob all the time
Not sure if issues are related

If its a saloon your bootlid wiring harness is broke most likely its on the l/h side as you look into the boot. Try pulling on the wires see if any broke.

    It's a hatchback
But now you mention that there has been another issue with the boot
When opening I have to really push it right up lately or it falls back down

Ok most likely problem then is water in your boot switch.

Your other problem is the two boot struts are gone weak.

    wd40 if it's water ?

It will just gum up with debris etc if you just spray wd40, it attracts dirt. The boot release switch is the problem ( family member had this job done recently). About €40 for the part from frauds (ford).

    Narrowed it down further
The boot clicks open when I hit the brake pedal !

You have a short between your brake light wiring and your boot open wire.
Probably a frayed harness rubbing intermittently.

And no, WD40 won't fix it.

    That makes sense
Would that run the battery down............battery was replaced last month and there had been issues with boot not opening prior to that

There is a wiring harness on the passenger side of your boot. Unplug and check if there's any wet or moisture around it.

Same as in this post here: http://www.talkford.com/community/topic/209725-rear-licence-plate-bulbsplease-not-the-loom-again/?p=1963289

Opened up side of boot panel
There is a lot of moisture passenger side as you speculated
Every time I touch this black junction the boot clicks ? Am I supposed to try and pull it apart and dry inside it ?

Yes that's it. Might be a bit tricky opening it as the clips are fragile. Try and remove as much moisture as you can and some wd40 will help in this instance. As for the water ingress, have a look at the grommet for the headlight wiring. If it's torn it will need a bit of silicone.

Thanks will do it at weekend
How do I actually open it ?
    Squeeze? Pull ? Both ?
    I'm afraid of breaking it

There's a plastic release clip that you pinch and then it will come apart easily.

Could not for the life of me pinch it apart
Was afraid of breaking it so I said I'd leave it till I go to garage for service
There was definitely water in it as when I was trying to open it drops came out
The boot now does not open when I apply break
It opens when I switch ignition off

Well I'd say that's where the problem is. If you dropped into ford they might have a look at it.
