i am not a member of amazon prime, last year i purchesed quite a few bits and pieces from amazon, one purchase was two fancy dress costumes for my grandkids, purchased on a family members visa card, i have not got anythig since last december, yesterday a purchase was made on amazon prime using that card, roughly 100 euro, the bank say they are not responsible, that amazon has to be contacted, the bank supplied the time and the merchants id and the amount, amazon has been contacted and a reply is been awaited, should the bank be more active, or is this standard procedure

It wasn't a "purchase" like an order it was instead a subscription payment for Amazon Prime, see www.amazon.co.uk/prime

What likely happened is when somebody previously placed an order on the Amazon website they signed up to a free trial of Amazon Prime, as the trial wasn't cancelled it charged the annual subscription payment.Alternatively somebody signed up to a Prime trial on the Amazon website thinking they could watch streaming video content and found they could not (provided they were outside the UK) and then failed to cancel it.

Either way, if you've not used the services provided by Prime after the charge was taken you will likely be able to cancel it and gte a full refund.

Check your amazon.com account and see what was ordered and if it was a real solid item where it was sent?

There should be a printable invoice for every payment made.

It is too easy to opt into Prime - which is a bit crap in Ireland as it seems to offer little value. I actually had two Prime subscriptions running without realising it. For the life of me I couldn't find the second one on either my account or my OH's one. Then prompted by this thread I found it on the the amazon.com site which seems to have the same login details as the .co.uk one. Doh!

I use prime uk for movies, next day to PM and subscriptions on pampers to my home address every month.
