Run flat to normal: load rating

    Hi guys

I have an 07 520d that had run flats when I bought it. Tyres were 225/50/17 94w

I hated the ride so when they needed replacing I put normal tyres on. The guy in the place said that because I was replacing run flats that I needed a harder tyre so the current ones are now 225/50/17 98w. The reason being that the suspension etc was setup for run flats which are naturally harder and if I changed straight it would affect the handling etc.

However the ride did not really improve at all. In fact there was little difference since the tyres are so hard

I need to replace them again and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get 94w normal tyres.

Surely a 94w is a 94w? The only thing I have read is that the camber of the car is setup for the stiffer sidewall and so going with a softer tyre could cause premature wear

Has anyone done a straight swap with the exact same ratings? Did you notice any difference?
