Interview shortlist

I have been called to interview for a technical/managerial role in a pharma facility.

I would like to have an idea of how many typically make the shortlist for interview. Would I be right in guessing maybe 15-20?

If it's like anywhere I've been interviewed it would be more like 5 or 6 shortlisted

It really depends on the recruitment process. I've had 15 shortlised for 1 position, I've had 4 for 2 positions, I base it on the quality of the applications that come in not numbers. No one wants to waste time meeting people that are not likely to be a potential candidate for a role. I'd say short of asking there's not really any way to tell in advance.

This to be honest; the short list is based on candidate quality and I've even had short lists of 1 (only suitable candidate) and if that did not work out it was back to the market basically.

It depends on the role. From a minimum of 2 to about 8 depending on the candidate pool.
    Good luck to OP.

Depending on the mix of candidates skill-set / suitability.

Anywhere from 1-5, any more is just wasting a lot of time for the interviewers.

For a key management role it would not be unusual for the candidate to meet with his peer group or key stakeholders as part of the interview process. Interviewing any more than a handful makes meeting several people a nightmare and a huge drain on resources.

Thanks for the good wishes and thanks to all for the input. I suppose it's just a little reassuring that I have made it into a relatively small pool.

    Thanks again

I went for the interview today and I think it went OK. It lasted over 70 mins so that's maybe a good sign? As I really dislike my current job I'm already smiling to myself about possibly handing in notice. Fingers crossed. My wife thinks I should hand in my notice anyway to reduce my stress and enjoy a few months off with young family.
