A bona fida Major, good to see a big ranking competition in the first half of the year.
Kicks off Friday afternoon live on ITV4 throughout the weekend, with a mix of live and recorded coverage on Setanta Ireland.

Open draw all the way, first two rounds are here, lots of new names.
Top players don't get involved until Round 3 on Saturday.

    MvG...unbelievable ----177 170 to win a leg then a 9 darter in the next...15 perfect darts...shame they went for a break there.

    Michaels worst average in 6 games, despite 8x180s 2x170 C/O and a 9 darter

3 of the Worlds Top 5 make the semis so class has rose to the top.

    Semi Lineup.

    Taylor v MVG.
    Wright v Klaasen.

snakebiter into another final, hope he wins it

Good to see Wright make another final.

Taylor back up to number 3 again now so opposite half of the draw to MVG. That's huge for him.

    This should be epic.

Taylor as he often does gets a decent lead over MvG...lets see if he can hold on.

Taylor is beat before he even gets to the ochce against van Gerwen every time. Peter Wright set to lose another final

    That's it exactly.

100 average was a rare thing 10-15 years ago.
It's nothing of note at all these days.

What they never mention about Taylor is that he's 55. Last night it was about whether he needed a coach or sports psychologist. The man is getting older and the ageing process affects your muscles and nerves, eyesight and coordination and sooner or later there has to be a point when age affects your performance but TV commentators are seemingly unwilling to bring it up.

Taylor is playing as he always did, he gets to the later stages of every tournament throwing 100+ averages consistently, but he struggles when he meets Gary or Van Gerwen, because there simply better than him. If Michael was around in the 90s and 00s Phil would not have been so dominant.

The big problem Taylor has and there is no solution; is his age. Young players can get better, improve, develop. Taylor can only hope to keep his current level as long as possible. It's still good enough to beat the Wade and Chizzy's and Wrights. He also beats Anderson and Lewis more often than not but not good enough for MvG.

Taylor has beaten Anderson 7 our of the last 10 ...Lewis 5 out of 10 with one draw. He's only won 2 out of the last 10 against MvG.

If MvG had been around Taylor wouldn't have been so dominant but with a greater challenge he was still at an age where he could improve. I don't think he can improve now and probably has to work very hard just to stay where he is, which is still the world number 3.

Agree with what your saying there but where have you got those stats? Anderson won 5 of the last 6 on TV against Phil, he won 5 on the spin. Him and MvG have the best win streaks ever against Taylor
