Hi. I'm hoping I can get some guidance on here. I broke the glass on My indesit ceramic/glass hob earlier today. There's a chunk of glass gone from where one ring is and a crack running through another. Is it possible to replace tge glass or is it a straight replacement of the unit? If the unit has to go has anyone seen any good deals?
    Tia

Often if glass is available as a part, it's almost the cost of a whole new hob.
Might be a good time to get an induction hob, they are amazing compared to ceramic. You do need to make sure your pots and pans can be used on induction, they are a little more expensive to buy, but a good bit cheaper than they were a few years ago.

Thanks for your quick response Colm. That's a pity re the replacement part cost. I must look into induction hobs but realistically my budget is very small (particularly as the broken hob is just over two yrs). Thanks again.

IKEA do reasonable hobs. Got one for less than 300 I think. No dials which makes cleaning handy

Depending on what model it is, on the Indesit spares site there are a number of ceramic glass tops for around €100, much less than the cost of a new hob ...

Thanks everyone. Our oven is great thankfully but if you can let me know where you bought it would be great.
Thanks for the indesit spares link above. Will try and give them a call in the morning.

If you have house insurance you can make a claim for a replacement ceramic top as the hob is a wired in fixture, get a quotation from your service engineer and present it to your insurance

New indesit ceramic hob is €180 in Argos

You'll get a reasonable ceramic hob for between €200/250 these days, excess on insurance is likely to be around that anyway so might not be worth going the insurance route.

Losing your no claims bonus and paying higher insurance will defeat the purpose of claiming

    Hi all,

Well our Nordmende ceramic induction hob is after cracking. My wife opened cupbard to side and herb jar fell on it. I'm sickened as it is only one year old!!! Replacement with same is circa €365. Does anyone know of any cheaper or, for same price better value?

    All advice greatfully received!
