My house is connected directly to exchange at a distance of several miles, I'm the only one in my estate that is not connected to substantially closer efiber cabinet.
Asked eir about getting rewired they directed to openeir
Openeir says they only deal with ISP
My ISP Vodafone says they can't talk on my behalf to openeir due to data protection.
Haven't been able to figure that one out yet can someone here explain it?
    Thanks

Ask eir about providing you with a new line. If they agree and will do it to the new cab then threaten to leave Vodafone unless they sort it out.

Thanks thats a pretty good idea,
If anyone knows what that data protection thing is about id still like to know what sort of shenanigans vodafone is trying to hide behind

if there is a line already active at the premises we wouldn't set up a new line unfortunately. –Ciara

it was a good idea but they all seem to be cahoots with regards not upgrading people who are connected directly to the exchange

Tell them you want a second line.

    yup did that too,
thats something they are apparently willing to entertain

You will need to speak with our sales team in regards to this. You can contact them on 1800-503-303 and they will be happy to..assist you :) -Ciara

to be honest i cant say im overly impressed with the smiley face at the end of that comment

cant figure out which is which on this though
<cant post link to prices as im new to the forum>
looks like 122 for installation and line rental of 25 a month after that

its probably the top one, in which case line rental of approx 50 quid a month while not back breaking is pretty steep considering i only want one of the lines, my old man had line issues back in the 90s where the original line was very poor and the second line was good, and he had a hell of a time trying to get them to cancel the older one and leaving the newer one

If you're out of contract with Vodafone just cancel that when eir set up the new one and have broadband on it.

The second line option is not guaranteed to work, if theres a new pair on the same bundle spare then the new line will be just as useless as the old line. Try it, but don't get your hopes up.

Vodafone are meant to escalate things on your behalf, but as there is no service to do what you want (network rearrangement) there's nobody for them to send it to.

Is there any clear reason why you were separately provisioned? Was the house built after the rest, or is it a granny flat/similar?

Thats the strange thing alright, this house was built at the same time as 15 of the other houses on this estate, efiber cabinet is 1km away as the crow flies, the exchange im connected to is 4km away.
dont even ask me how it happened
