Graduating from a medical university outside Ireland

    Hello,

For those who have graduated from a school outside Ireland, how does one get onto the Irish medical system?

Based on what I've researched, for graduates who are not eligible for internship posts (ie if one has graduated from latvia, romania, etc), it's looking like we have to wait until December of the year we graduate in order to apply for BST, and then start our training in July of the following year.

That being the case, is it possible to find employment as a doctor in those months of waiting (i.e as a locuum) even though I'll only be at 'intern' level basically?? I really don't want to be sitting around until applications open.

Would be really grateful for any insight and/or advice

    :))

Plenty of off-scheme SHO jobs around in most if not all specialties. Have a look at hospitaljobs.ie or try to join the Doctors Res Facebook group, jobs pop up there most weeks.
