Aren't all of her songs composed of nonsensical lyrics?

Can't add anything helpful I'm afraid, as that's as far as she gets before I turn the radio over ;)

it's what they're all at in the hip/hop/rnb thing nowadays - well a lot of them anyway - future, fetty wap etc ... it basically comes from how popular that "sizzurp" drink was that they were all drinking and addicted to - which is prescription cough syrup/codeine and fruit syrup and vodka i think... anyway, it's because weed has fallen out of vogue as something edgy for them to promote, so the new thing is to "slur your words" in the songs to emulate how it sounds when they're off their nut on sizzurp.

but in rihannas case, saying all of that, it's a "cultural" slang they use in Barbados and Jamaica, but predominantly jamaica, so she's somewhat being slammed by (i dont know who) media, that she's appropriated the culture of a different island...

    so there you go

She is, but she's singing in a Jamaican accent in work. She can't sing in a Bajan accent because they sound like British West Country farmers and it wouldn't sound cool. Unless it's soca.

    Yes it's:

Werk werk werk werk, herp herp herp herp, blae blae blae blae blae, nhaa nhaa nhaa nhaa nhaa, ymnaii ymnaii ymnaii ymnaii, la la la la la and so on.

It has to be the stupidest most ridiculous song ever. It's like she couldn't be bothered even using words and just makes sounds like a 2 year old would.

It actually is real words, just not in our version of English. In normal English it's something like:

He said I have to work work work work work work
He sees me doing dirt X 6
    So I put in work X 6
When are you going to learn X 6?
    I don't care if he hurts X 6

So I think we can all agree that with the language barrier removed it's actually really deep and meaningful.

And it took 6 people to write that... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_(Rihanna_song)

Ah you know how it is in work lad. 1 person did the majority and the other 5 just repeated their last word once each.

Oh Jesus, one of them is calling himself Boi-1da.

It took me a while to figure out how that would be pronounced, and when I did I immediately projectile vomited.

Just heard the new coldplay and Beyonce song.

I'm convinced Beyonce said 5 words through the whole song.

I think that Rihanna song is a subliminal attack on dole scroungers, by repeating the word work over and over she is trying change their mentality to go out and look for work instead of doing nothing all day long.
