What type of solid fuel are you using and how much are you burning say per day.

Burning turf a nice bit a day

If you want to carry out a realistic test go and get a bucket or some form of container and weigh it on your bathroom scales then fill it up and weigh it again, subtract the two weights and you have the net weight of the turf.
Burn that away at your normal rate, repeat it a few times and you will get a fair idea of what your real consumption is. This will then give you a fair idea of where the problem is, otherwise, in my opinion, you will be whistling in the wind trying to figure it out.

Turf has a very low heating value relative to coal, coal has a heating value of about around 7.9 Kwh/kg and turf is hard to determine depending on the moisture content but assume it around 4 Kwh/Kg. If the stove is to supply 30 Kw ( 25Kw to water & 5 kw to room) then it would need to consume 10 kgs of turf per hour or 22 lbs/hr. at a boiler efficiency of 75%.
Realistically the stove will probably be outputing around 12 kw/hr so you would need to fire at around 4 to 5 kgs of turf/hr. minimum.

I'd try a few dry logs and see if it improves the situation, if it does you know it is the turf

Was it installed by the same plumber? Could be a piping issue

Slightly off this exact topic but turf is turf.....

Well over 50 years we used turf cut (not washed up on) and dried from this beach in a cast iron Stanley No7? (dry) stove.
It was also the only form of heating in the house but to get the oven hot enough a bucket of coal was always added when baking.

When the stove is up to "normal" temperature you could also monitor the run time of the circulating pump once the pipes stat calls for it to run, a very short running time would indicate that the stove, for whatever reason, isn't delivering its expected output.

When the stove is up and running after an hour or so, go to your oil boiler and feel the top Pipe. Is it warm?

If only your stove is operating, then the pipes at the oil boiler should never heat. Do they?

As its a Bungalow then the water will only be circulating through the cylinder coil until the circ pump starts, if its sometimes taking hours before the pump cuts in then there is something very wrong somewhere I would think, you would expect the pump to cut in in 30 minutes or so under those circumstances. I think you should get a good plumber (maybe your neighbours) in to have a look at the installation etc and give his opinion.
