Advice on second laser eye surgery

I got my eyes lasered back in 2010 which cost me €4500 to get both eyes done. They were pretty bad back then as my feet were completely blurred without glasses. I went with vision express as I knew a few people who went with them and were happy with the results.

Now 6 years later I find myself needing to get them done again as I was experiencing regression. -2.5 in my right and -1.75 in my left. I went back hoping my lifetime cover will get my eyes fix for free or as a reduced cost. But unfortunately that was not the case. The lifetime cover only applies if I spend €80 every two years to get them checked. None of my friends who got the surgery done ever went back to them and still have perfect vision. I never got them checked in the six years since the surgery. The last time I went was a year after the surgery and they didn't see any change. They said I didn't follow the contract and it absolved them of the lifetime cover. I remember the lifetime cover but I recently found my contract have no recollection of the biannual checks.

They gave me an initial quote of €4,600 for the enhancement but it might be more after I get another check in a months time. As you expected I was gutted hearing that price. I don't understand why my eyes are not as bad as before (I was -7 I believe) and it costs more now than the original surgery. They offered 10% discount and my insurance provide another 15% I was expecting to pay half that as a maximum but I was floored.

I am going to shop around and see if optilase can give me a lesser quote.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think I have a leg to stand on and try to push for a greater discount or make them honour the contract?

I would appreciate any advice but I think I am screwed.

If it's not mentioned in your contract then I don't see how they can enforce it. I would query that
