I thought it was strange, me being the model driver!

Its a ford focus. Nothing exciting. Wonder was the system down. I tried on 2 compare sites. I had heard insurance was going up and was just checking to see how much. Think it was about 350 last year.

Could the car have been previously been declared as written off?

I was connected to web. I tried again on way home to get a quote and got E544 from AA. As luck would have it, when I got home my renewal was sitting there E348. Happy days!!!! Sorted.

Chill are an insurance broker who provide you with a single quote. They don't offer you the various premiums, levels of cover, restrictions or extensions from a number of insurers to allow you compare the offerings

A bit pedantic to be honest.
I would say the Op is simply looking for an online quote site to find the cheapest 3rd party or FC quote.....not who offers the better windscreen cover, or cheapest cover to remove stuck wheel-nuts, etc.

...amd if you really want to be pedantic about it chill (for example ) do not offer a "single quote" as you say, they will give you a range of up to 14 quotes.

Rubbish. Chill say they check 14 insurers but they only ever offer you 1 insurers premium, terms & conditions.

    http://www.compareinsuranceireland.ie

...came back with quotes from 3 different Insurers ( the cheapest from a range of 13 Companies) including cost of both TPFT and Fully Comp, as well as a list of extensions for each quote.

I just tried that and got just two quotes from axa and rsa.

    36 male
    Full Driving licence 9 years
    7 years NCB
    16 year old Ford 2.0L
    2 PP(gone next month)

    Best quote was €1098.

    It's grim out there.
Been driving since i was 18 but on two wheels untill about 2007 and never paid anything like i am now.
