You can do a lap of the mountains, ~70km
    From Loughrea, counter clockwise
    N66 to almost Gort
R353 to the crossroads with the R351
    and back to Loughrea.

The highest bit of road over the mountains is
Leave Loughrea on the R351, take the right at the fork past Lough Rea ( the lake) to Kilenedeema (Kilnadeema west on google maps, not Earlspark. Stay going south and It'll bring you to Derrybrien.

The N66 is much improved recently, good surface, and widened a bit too over what it was.

A lap of Loughrea is 8km (the length of the bypass, and back through the town) - if you want to get some aimless kms...

I was planning on driving from Galway city to Westport on the morning of it. But I've read on the website that you have to register/sign-on the night before.

Seven springs cc on strava, loads of maps up
