    Hi all,

    Sonicwall nsa 240

Got new 360mb package, had 240 mb before this,

My issue is I am getting 370mb without sonic, and only 190 through sonicwall I reset to factory defaults with no improvement.

On My old technicolor, I got over 240 without any issues. No Bridge options as you know.

I have tried both Bridge and non Bridge it's exact same results speed wise, I'm finding it hard to trouble shooting issue, according to dell website model nsa 240 has 600mb through put.

Any help would be great thanks.

NSA 240 has a hardware built-in limitations for the WAN speeds.
Also, when all the services are enabled (IPS / IDS / AV / Antimalware ) known as Comprehensive Security Suite, well they slow down the over all WAN speed.

Not familiar with NSA 240 now but have a look at the link here and see the speeds for various NAS currently sold by DELL. Click on Comparisons adn see the speeds with or without various security services enabled or not.

    Enjoy it...

Will have a look at attached link, as far as I can see all are disabled, as I bought 2nd end user, so mentioned need upgrades as far as I know, the strange thing is that last router had faster speeds through sonicwall, 50+mbs approx more, thanks for replying.

Is the sonicwall being assigned an IPv6 address? ....

    New modem often enables DSLite.

According to this page here...your NSA does not performs faster than 200M if services enabled.
Also,it has been replaced by a newer model.

I will check if it's is enabled and report back.

    Thanks

    I think it's ipv4 + ipv6 as default but I'll check

We have an NSA 2400MX in the office and with a 250Mb VM Business connection, it struggled to get over 150Mb/s. The hardware just isn't up to the job unfortunately.

I dont think its Sonicwall as on old Router as above i got 240mb nearly always ,
The issue lies somewhere else , as im not getting above 190mb now ?

I just checked and intrusion prevention is off , as requires upgrade

Because that router isn't doing doing any SPI like the SW is. My 5yo router can do 300Mb with just a little NAT, but ask it to properly inspect traffic and you'd be lucky to hit 50Mb.

It was other side of sonic doing the speed though ??? exactly how i have new router set up... read above

    Do a test :

Put a gigabit switch in between the Sonicwall and the router

Ethernet negotition / auto-negotiation isn't working right in either

    the Sonicwall or the router

    OR

there is some mismatch between the Sonicwall and the router when both are connected

When you put the gigabit switch between the Sonicwall and the router, you "fixed" this

try update the firmware of the Sonicwall ( back it up first ! & make sure you can downgrade )

It does prove something alright , im still not near the 370 i get without sonic though maybe 240 is a limatation for my NSA240 ? throughput is suposed to be closer to 600mbs as it has 2 x 500 MHz 64 Octeon Processors ,

I might see if theres another model spare in work to try at home ,i cant upgrade any further as unregistered from an upgrade , its on SonicOS Enhanced 5.9.1.1-39 at moment

    Thanks for help

A few tests, brought a tz210 home does 110mbs, I tried my pc straight to router getting 370-375, connect my nsa 240 sonicwall to router at same time, sonic has no work load , my straight to router speed drops by 130mbs to 240mbs something is not right between sonic and router ?

Is the WAN port of the SW operating at half or full duplex?

Its set Auto-Neg , giga colour lights up on front panel , as a test i set both lan and wan to 100 Full-duplex and got only 4.2mbs down but still 37mb up , when i connect pc direct to wan without switch i get 250mb ,maybe its the fastest the NSA 240 can process , as makes sense as i always got 240mbs on old tecnicolour 7200 when iwas on 240 package , has me puzzled to be honest

    Any would help be great
    Thanks
