    Hi guys

I've recently emigrated and am struggling to pick up work...the local recruiters have told me the reason for this is that my
Cv is not translating well and the type of companies I worked for simply do not exist here in this market

I need a completely rework of my cv concentrating on my transferable skills as opposed to my precious titles/roles etc

Can anyone recommend a reputable cv writing service....I've contacted a few but all quoting €170 upwards to do the job

    Cheers!!!

    K

    Have you relocated to Ireland?

As an employer I can assure you that a good cv is essential. 90% of the cvs I receive end up in the bin before interview because they are badly presented. I think that if an applicant can't be bothered to submit a well written cv, then what good are they to me?

Spend the €170, your op suggests you need some guidance , without a good cv, you are wasting the price of a stamp.

Emigrated to where? You'd be best off using a CV service in your new country, who understand local employer expectations.

If you've come to Ireland, then tUnless you were working in the sex industry (legal in some places) I'm finding it hard to believe that you worked in places with no equivalents here.

I'm now based in the Caribbean- the local recruitment agencies don't offer this service and no private companies on island do this

Hahaha no definitely not in that industry 😀 I thought the same and was a bit shocked when the local recruitment agencies told me that employers here would not be able to pull my transferable skills from my cv but that's what they are telling me...

What did you previously work as?

What kind of work are you looking for? Rather than going to recruitment agencies maybe you could identify companies that are in line with what you're aiming for?

Perhaps contact an American company who can help with this? There must be loads.

I would guess the standard CV in the Caribbean is closer to the American resume (could be wrong though)

Have you tried an online service - something like Elance.com (although they look as if they may have changed to the name Upwork?)

Full disclosure: I haven't used the service myself but the way I believe it works is, you post whatever service you're looking for online and people (in this case writers) will bid to work on it. You can view their previous work and how other people have rated working with them.

You can agree a price and payment structure you're both happy with so you pay them X% to engage their services and the rest so long as you're happy with the finished product.

But again, I haven't actually used it myself but it might be a good way to have a professional writer update your CV at a price you're happy to pay.
