  • Any way to tell if they're jailbreakable?

12gb isn't enough to do much on PS3, updates alone would eat most off this memory

  • Surely the hard drive can be upgraded No?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 456 ✭✭dusty207

Do these come with controllers, cables, are they new or refurb, boxed etc??

Yep! You need a special caddy I think though

Got one at Christmas from them it's a new boxed 12GB super slim. I installed a 80GB hard drive after playing a few games and updates.

PS3 take a generic SATA hard drive that cost about £25 on Amazon for 500 GB+

Hard drive cradle cost about £3

Very easy job, about as easy as taking a battery off your phone and changing the sim card. No special tools needed

Happened me a couple of years ago. Got a 2nd hand one to replace it as fixing it before (original 2007 model) had cost me €100 and wasn't gonna do it again.

Anyway - ps4 now is around the €350 mark I think? Maybe less 2nd hand on done deal. I'd recommend it.

The 12gb console isnt great unless you buy more memory.

ah crap... was in need of a BluRay player

Apparently these are better than the PS4 for playing BluRays?

    <grittedTeeth>It's. Not. Memory. It's. Storage.</grittedTeeth>

PS3 has had a number of amazing games and at that sorta price, it's worth a punt, but the storage will need upgrading.

I've a spare 60gb, would you reckon that'd do or would it be better to get something bigger? I've seen second hand 320gb for around €20

I'd get a bigger one, when you have a PlayStation Plus account giving you free games every month, you wouldn't be long filling up the storage.

Thinking of getting one to use sky go on my tv. Does it work for this?

Yes, the PS3 is good for sky go. However, you need a sky go extra subscription to use on a games console. Normal sky go subscription will not work. If you have a multi room subscription you get sky go extra automatically. If not I think it's an extra E6 a month for sky go extra.

Mind if I ask if you two got emails to confirm your orders? I didn't get anything and foolishly didn't write down my order number, assuming it would come by email.

    Are these new?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭intro

They are new. Comes with one controller. No hdmi lead. AV cable and Euro/AV connector plug included.
I got two emails, one on Tuesday night after ordering (9.50 pm) and one on wednesday (2 pm) to say it was dispatched. I picked free delivery which was 2 to 3 days if I remember correctly. Arrived this morning (Thursday 11 am) so I am not sure how it could have been much faster if I had paid the extra for the quick delivery option!
    Thanks to the OP.
