would anyone know if you lease a plot of land this year (5 year lease) can you apply for entitlements (or whatever their equivalent are now) on it assuming someone isn't already claiming entitlements on it?

how would it work ... fill up the thing on agfood, submit new maps, get paid at whatever rate per acre you are paid on existing holding? ..... :D the preceding is highly highly optimistic isn't it? but just wondering roughly how it works

Would you not have to buy entitlements to put on it?

Putting it on your SFP form on agfood will just add hectares to your application, by they would be 'naked' hectares so to speak...

At least that's my reading of it... Could be wrong...

If you are leasing land, you need to ensure there are entitlements with it. You then need to get a 'transfer of entitlements' form from the transfer of entitlement office in Portlaoise 076 106 4430.

You (lessee) and the lessor need to fill out and sign relevant sections (1&3) and have them stamped by a member of teagasc or solicitor. You might have a solicitor involved anyways in drawing up the lease.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the info. Trying to figure out if its worth the outlay.

Find out from the lad leasing what the unit value of his entitlements are. Bearing in mind that these will more than likely be decreasing each year until 2020. He/she would have got a letter in 2014 showing the likely decreases over the next 5 years. Be great to see this.

Not sure how it would work if he hasn't this got this to show you. Under data protection don't think Portloaise could tell you this info if you are not the owner Somebody else on here might be able to tell you that
