    Hi all,

Any one know of any developments with the blincraft to john bosco and miller sites on davitt road.

All i can find is blurb from eric byrnes rather useless site below
    http://www.ericbyrne.ie/dublin-south-central/drimnagh/192-davitt-road-developments

rumour milll was the hse had it and were to use it ad a carpark for James' what a waste.

Great potential there for a regeneration project of Drimnagh and the canal area there. Drimnagh and the area has one of the best transport hubs via the luas and bus and I could really see a mix of shopping/residential (house and apartment and facilities lining that road and being a massive success. the nearest shopping centers are crumlin villiage, Liffey valley or the city, where the only supermarkets are tesco/dunnes crumlin. the ashleaf or ballyer, with your mix of supervalue and aldi/lidl.

There is a chance there for to do great service to the area. but water charges and property tax will keep the residents busy no doubt. the important things in life!

Always wondered WTF was up with that site. It's really big, centrally-located and right beside the Luas but has sat idle through two property booms. Must be some dispute over ownership.

Wasn't that the site where Unilever and dulux were situated (before dulux went on fire)

    Thats the one.

    Amongst others.

Millers are there, along with Blindcraft who dont seem to be operating but the building still seems to be standing and is in good nick.

I dont think there is a bigger plot of land on a luas line (Red or Green) as big, as close to the city and as accessible as what is there. It would be a damn shame if we didnt see 200 houses, some apartment blocks, a nice little park (NOT a junkie park like brickfields!) and some amenities go in there. It would be worse to see it as a a car park or a depot for dublin City council. The land is prime real estate along a canal containing a luas track that is 18 minutes to Jervis, 10 to hueston and 5 to James' hospital. It's a no-brainer to reinvigorate the area with something there that provides jobs in the area and also brings up the level of the Drimnagh/Crumlin/Inchicore/Dolphins barn and even Kilmainham. That could be an Amazon or an Ebay or Apple site, providing 500-1000 jobs, bringing much needed revenue to one of the more impoverished and ignored localities in Dublin

Brid Smith will make sure she campaigns to abolish water charges in the area though. that'll help with regeneration of the area and eradicate the scumbags.

Never going to happen, these big multi-nationals prefer to set up on the outskirts where there's new facilities and plenty of housing for employees.

The HSE do own it (the Unilver bit anyway - not sure about the Dulux site, as there's still businesses operating there) Potential site for a replacement for one of the three maternity hospitals. HSE owned and leased the land Blindcraft is on in the first place

Is it not the site for the relocation of the ambulance service in James' Hospital while the new children's hospital is being built?

I'd hate to see housing in there. Have you seen the width of the road? I'd also hate to be waiting on, or relying on an ambulance that had to go up or down that narrow carriage way.

It's many times too large for that to be the permanent use. May be the case temporarily though

They can use all that land to co-ordinate their striking workers over the next few months.

It's a largely residential area. It's adjacent to good public transport. And we have a horrific housing crisis.

    It's perfect for residential development.

Owned by the HSE and to be used by St James's Hospital as a staging point for the builders while they build the new hospital (if it gets permission) if you read the planning permission on the hospital walls its on it.

Councillor ray whats his name from SF was delighted to see that the ambulance service is being put here.

    on 10 acres.
creating zero jobs in the community.
    creating noise pollution
    creating traffic jams
putting emergency services in a bottle neck.

    Good job Ray. Good Job.

Sure is it not where they're putting the Coombe now? What with the NCH being built there and all... so no ambulance site.

    ambulances for now anyway.

im just surprised they havent built a couple of hundred affordable houses for 500,000k a pop on the site made out of sellotape and fag butts.
