Quick Question - Stopping in 3rd/4th

Have my driving test in the morning and I think I'm starting to forget everything my instructor thought me. I know if I'm coming up to a yield I can clutch in 3rd and roll into 1st but what should I do when I'm coming up to a stop sign (in a housing estate). Should I go 4-3-2 or stop in 3rd/4th. I know I should try my best to go 4-3-2 when I see a red light ahead that only just went red. If the answer is go 4-3-2 what should I do when theres no sign and I don't know until 5/10 metres before whether its stop/yield (line on road).

Also for anyones who's familiar with finglas is it ok to go over ramps in 3rd gear? For the bigger ones I know 2nd is necessary but what about the ones like in the photo (except with 4 of them across the road and higher). I avoid them by driving to either side of them (on the ramp most left) but sometimes you have to go over them on their highest point. Should I drop to 2nd here?

    Thanks
